Target Information
CD23 is a 45 kDa glycoprotein expressed on a subpopulation of peripheral blood and tonsil B cells, and is strongly expressed on EBV-transformed B lymphoblasts. It is identical to the low-affinity IgE receptor (Fc epsilon RII) found on B cells. CD23 expression has been observed in neoplastic cells from B cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia and some lymphomas. Functionally, CD23 is involved in B cell growth, differentiation, and IgE production, and also exists in a soluble form with mitogenic activity. CD23 dysfunction is associated with diseases such as chronic conjunctivitis and chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
