Target Information
The VPS29 gene belongs to the vacuolar protein sorting (VPS) gene family. Functional impairment of these genes disrupts the proper delivery of vacuolar hydrolases. The VPS29 protein is a component of the retromer complex, which mediates retrograde transport of proteins from endosomes to the trans-Golgi network. It may contribute to forming the inner shell of the retromer coat for retrograde vesicles leaving the prevacuolar compartment. Multiple splice variants and polyadenylation sites have been identified for this gene.
