Target Information
VPS26 belongs to the vacuolar protein sorting (VPS) gene family. The encoded protein is a component of the retromer complex, which mediates retrograde transport of proteins from endosomes to the trans-Golgi network. Its structural similarity between yeast and human proteins suggests conserved function. VPS26 interacts directly with VPS35, the core of the retromer complex. Alternative splicing produces multiple isoforms.
