Target Information
CD127 (Interleukin-7 receptor alpha, IL-7Ra) is a glycoprotein involved in the regulation of lymphopoiesis. The response of cells to CD127 depends on the presence of the interleukin-7 receptor (IL7R), which functions as an alpha/gamma chain heterodimer.
The gamma(c) chain, shared with the interleukin-2 receptor, activates signal transduction, while the alpha chain determines specific signaling events through its interaction with cytoplasmic molecules.
CD127 promotes proliferation of precursor B cells, thymocytes, T cell progenitors, and mature CD4+ and CD8+ T cells.
Defects in CD127 function are associated with severe combined immunodeficiency syndromes.
