This gene encodes a syntaxin-binding protein involved in neurotransmitter release through regulation of syntaxin, a transmembrane attachment protein receptor.
Mutations in this gene are associated with infantile epileptic encephalopathy-4.
Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been described.
