This antibody detects endogenous levels of GluR2 only when phosphorylated at Serine 880.
Target Information
Glutamate-activated ion channels are divided into two major classes:
- NMDA receptors (NMDAR), sensitive to N-methyl-D-aspartate
- AMPA receptors (AMPAR), activated by α-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-4-isoxalone propionic acid
AMPARs consist of four distinct Glutamate Receptor Subunits (GluR1–4) and play key roles in excitatory neurotransmission in the brain. The GluR2 subunit is particularly important in synaptic plasticity processes such as long-term depression (LTD).
