Target Information

CD19 is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily with two Ig-like domains. It is expressed on 100% of peripheral B cells defined by kappa or lambda light chain expression. CD19 can also be found on certain myeloid leukemia cells, particularly of monocytic lineage. It serves as an early and broad B-cell–restricted antigen and functions as a key regulator of normal and malignant B cell proliferation.

CD19 acts as a coreceptor with the B cell receptor (BCR), lowering the threshold for antigen receptor-dependent stimulation. It can also signal independently of BCR co-ligation, serving as a central regulatory hub for multiple signaling pathways. Mutation of the CD19 gene can lead to hypogammaglobulinemia, while overexpression results in B cell hyperactivity.
