Target Information
The WNT gene family consists of structurally related genes encoding secreted signaling proteins. These proteins are involved in oncogenesis and various developmental processes, including regulation of cell fate and patterning during embryogenesis. The WNT8B gene encodes a protein showing 95%, 86%, and 71% amino acid identity to the mouse, zebrafish, and Xenopus Wnt8B proteins, respectively. Expression of human and mouse WNT8B genes is restricted to the developing brain. Its chromosomal location at 10q24 suggests a potential link to partial epilepsy.
