Target Information

PKM2 (Pyruvate kinase M2) catalyzes the conversion of phosphoenolpyruvate to pyruvate and ATP.
PKM2 interacts with thyroid hormone, mediating metabolic effects induced by thyroid hormones.
It also binds Opa protein, a bacterial outer membrane protein involved in gonococcal adherence and invasion of human cells, indicating a role in bacterial pathogenesis.
Three alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding two distinct PKM2 isoforms have been reported.
