Target Information

The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the protein tyrosine phosphatase (PTP) family, which regulates various cellular processes such as growth, differentiation, mitotic cycle, and oncogenic transformation.
This receptor-type PTP contains an extracellular domain with multiple fibronectin type III repeats, a single transmembrane segment, and an intracellular catalytic domain.
It interacts with neuronal receptors and adhesion molecules including contactin and tenascin C, and also with sodium channels, potentially regulating them via tyrosine phosphorylation.
These interactions suggest roles in cell adhesion, neurite growth, and neuronal differentiation. Alternate transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
