Antibody detects endogenous levels of CD130/gp130 only when phosphorylated at Tyr759.
Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene acts as a signal transducer shared by multiple cytokines, including IL6, CNTF, LIF, and OSM. It functions as part of the cytokine receptor complex, with activation dependent on cytokine-receptor binding. vIL6, encoded by Kaposi sarcoma-associated herpesvirus, can directly activate this protein. Knockout studies in mice suggest a critical role in regulating myocyte apoptosis. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been described.
