Product Specific Information

This antibody recognizes a neuraminidase-sensitive extracellular epitope on CD43 (Leukosialin), a 95–135 kDa type I transmembrane glycoprotein (mucin-type) involved in lymphocyte activation.
CD43 is expressed by platelets and at high levels on all leukocytes; it is negative on resting B lymphocytes and erythrocytes.

Low endotoxin, azide-free PBS solution, 0.2 µm filter sterilized. Endotoxin level is less than 0.01 EU/µg of protein (LAL test).

Functional Application: Induction.

Target Information

CD43 (leukosialin, sialophorin) is a transmembrane mucin-like protein with high negative charge, expressed on most hematopoietic cells. It contributes to a repulsive barrier that interferes with cellular adhesion but can also promote leukocyte aggregation.
By interacting with actin-binding proteins ezrin and moesin, CD43 regulates T-cell morphology and cell-cell interactions during lymphocyte traffic.
CD43 signaling enhances LFA-1 adhesiveness and counteracts LFA-1 induction via other receptors.
Expression of CD43 induces tumor suppressor p53 protein; however, in p53 and ARF deficiency, CD43 promotes tumor proliferation and viability.
CD43 is an important modulator of leukocyte functions.
