Target Information
Heterotrimeric guanine nucleotide-binding proteins encoded by this gene are associated with essential hypertension and obesity. The polymorphism in this gene is linked to the occurrence of the splice variant GNB3-s, which shows increased activity. GNB3-s is an example of alternative splicing caused by a nucleotide change outside the splice donor and acceptor sites. Additional splice variants may exist but have not been fully characterized.
