Target Information
PGC1 alpha is a transcriptional coactivator that regulates genes involved in energy metabolism. It interacts with PPARγ, allowing interaction with multiple transcription factors. PGC-1 alpha also regulates the activities of CREB and nuclear respiratory factors (NRFs), linking physiological stimuli with mitochondrial biogenesis. It plays a key role in muscle fiber type determination and may influence blood pressure, cholesterol homeostasis, and obesity development.
