Store vial at -20°C prior to opening. Aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below for extended storage. Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing. Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature.
This product is stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use.

Anti-Orf2 is directed against mouse ORF2 near a C-terminus position. A BLAST analysis suggests reactivity with this protein from human and feline based on 100% homology for the immunogen sequence.

Target Information

The multi-functional nuclear protein ORF2p is involved in reverse transcriptase and endonuclease processes. ORF2 elements are epigenetically silenced throughout embryonic development, and mutations of L1 may result in detrimental de novo insertions into the genome, negatively affecting gene expression.
L1 elements are critical components in the mammalian genome, and much remains unknown regarding these proteins. Studies indicate that LINE-1 is activated in fetal oocytes and L1ORF2p may contribute to the eradication or selection of oocytes.
