Target Information
NQO1 is a member of the NAD(P)H dehydrogenase (quinone) family and a cytoplasmic 2-electron reductase. This FAD-binding protein forms homodimers and reduces quinones to hydroquinones. NQO1’s enzymatic activity prevents the one-electron reduction of quinones that results in radical species formation. Altered expression of the protein has been observed in various tumors and is associated with Alzheimer’s disease (AD).
