Target Information
Interleukin 6 receptor (IL6R), also known as CD126, is a type I cytokine receptor. It encodes a subunit of the IL-6 receptor complex, which plays a key role in cell growth, differentiation, and immune response. The IL6 receptor forms a complex with IL6ST (GP130), a receptor subunit shared by multiple cytokines. Dysregulation of IL6 and IL6R is associated with diseases such as multiple myeloma, autoimmune disorders, and prostate cancer. Alternatively spliced variants and a pseudogene on chromosome 9 have been reported.
