Target Information
Dual specificity phosphatases (DUSPs) inactivate their target kinases by dephosphorylating both phosphoserine/threonine and phosphotyrosine residues.
DUSPs are divided into six subgroups based on sequence similarity: PRLs, Cdc14 phosphatases, PTENs, myotubularins, MKPs, and atypical DUSPs.
DUSP inhibitors can modulate MAPK and cellular responses positively or negatively.
The regulated expression and activity of DUSP family members in various cells and tissues control MAPK intensity and duration, determining physiological responses.
DUSP12 (YVH1, GKAP) contains the consensus DUSP catalytic domain and an extended C-terminal domain, thought to play a role in glucokinase regulation.
It is localized in both the cytoplasm and nucleus.
