ALKBH5 (RNA demethylase ALKBH5)는 RNA를 산화적 탈메틸화하여 N(6)-methyladenosine (m6A) RNA를 탈메틸화하는 dioxygenase입니다. 이는 고등 진핵생물의 mRNA에서 가장 흔한 내부 변형 중 하나로, m6A mRNA 탈메틸화는 mRNA 처리 및 수출에 영향을 미칩니다. 또한 ALKBH5는 단일 가닥 DNA의 N(6)-methyladenosine을 탈메틸화할 수 있습니다 (in vitro). 반응에는 분자 산소, 알파-케토글루타레이트 및 철이 필요합니다.
