For reconstitution, add 100 µL distilled water to reach a final antibody concentration of approximately 1 mg/mL.
For conjugation experiments using this carrier-free antibody, perform an additional desalting step (Zeba Spin Desalting Columns, 7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882).
Target Information
The cystatin superfamily includes proteins with multiple cystatin-like sequences. Some act as cysteine protease inhibitors, while others lack inhibitory activity.
There are three inhibitory families: type 1 (stefins), type 2 cystatins, and kininogens.
Type 2 cystatins are found in various human fluids and secretions. The CST4 gene, located on chromosome 20, encodes a type 2 salivary cysteine peptidase inhibitor known as an S-type cystatin, highly expressed in saliva, tears, and seminal plasma.
Its role is unclear, but antibacterial and antiviral activity suggests a protective function.
