Target Information
PDGFRB (Platelet-Derived Growth Factor Receptor Beta) is a receptor tyrosine kinase involved in atherogenesis and cell transformation by the SIS oncogene. These growth factors act as mitogens for cells of mesenchymal origin. The receptor forms either homodimers or heterodimers depending on the ligand bound. The PDGFRB gene, located on chromosome 5, is adjacent to the genes for granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor and macrophage-colony stimulating factor receptor, all of which may be implicated in 5-q syndrome. A translocation between chromosomes 5 and 12 that fuses PDGFRB (CD140b) with ETV6 results in chronic myeloproliferative disorder with eosinophilia.
