Product Specific Information
- In direct ELISAs, approximately 10% cross-reactivity with recombinant mouse CA9 is observed.
- Less than 1% cross-reactivity with recombinant human CA1, 3, 4, 8, 10, 12, and 14 is observed.
- Reconstitute at 0.2 mg/mL in sterile PBS.
Target Information
Carbonic anhydrase (CA) is an enzyme that catalyzes the reversible conversion of carbon dioxide and water to carbonic acid, protons, and bicarbonate ions. It is abundant in all mammalian tissues and plays a key role in pH regulation by controlling hydrogen ion (H⁺) flux.
CA IX is one of the most hypoxia-inducible genes, regulated by HIF-1α, and is a reliable histochemical marker of hypoxia. Inhibition of CA IX increases cell death under hypoxic conditions due to its role in maintaining intracellular pH balance.
