• Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
• Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.

Target Information

Transferrins (Tf) are approximately 80 kDa blood plasma glycoproteins synthesized by the liver. They are iron-binding transport proteins capable of binding two Fe³⁺ ions in association with an anion, usually bicarbonate. Transferrin is responsible for transporting iron from absorption and heme degradation sites to storage and utilization sites.
Under normal conditions, about one-third of total blood transferrin contains bound iron. Measurement of blood transferrin levels is used as an indicator of iron-carrying capacity and abnormalities of iron metabolism such as anemia, iron overload, and hemochromatosis. Serum transferrin may also stimulate cell proliferation.
