Target Information

GRK7 is a serine/threonine kinase specifically expressed in the retina. It phosphorylates cone opsins and initiates their deactivation.
Protein kinases transfer a phosphate group from ATP to substrate proteins, mediating signal transduction in eukaryotic cells.
They regulate cellular metabolism, transcription, cell cycle progression, cytoskeletal rearrangement, movement, apoptosis, and differentiation.
The protein kinase family includes over 500 gene products and is divided into 8 major groups based on catalytic domain sequences.
Tyrosine kinases (TK) regulate cell-cell interactions such as differentiation, adhesion, motility, and death.
Approximately 90 TK genes have been sequenced — 58 are receptor TKs (e.g., EGFR, EPH, FGFR, PDGFR, TRK, VEGFR families) and 32 are cytosolic TKs (e.g., ABL, FAK, JAK, SRC families).
