Product Specific Information
The 8.1.1 monoclonal antibody reacts with mouse podoplanin (T1a, gp38, aggrus), a 43 kDa transmembrane glycoprotein expressed in kidney podocytes and various epithelial and mesothelial cells. It is a potent marker for lymphatic endothelium and thymic subcapsular epithelial cells. Podoplanin deficiency in mice leads to respiratory defects and congenital lymphedema.
Applications Reported: Suitable for flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested: Tested with TE-71 cell line; recommended ≤0.5 µg/test (100 µL final volume). Optimal titration required.
Excitation/Emission: 488 nm / 519 nm (Blue laser).
Filtration: 0.2 µm post-manufacturing filtered.
Target Information
Podoplanin (PDPN, T1A, gp38, Aggrus) is a mucin-type 1 glycoprotein (40–43 kDa) expressed in tumors and normal lymphatic epithelial cells. It regulates lymphatic endothelium morphology and serves as a ligand for CLEC-2. Expression correlates with tumor invasiveness and metastatic potential. It participates in cell migration and invasion, with expression induced via Src activation of Cas. Podoplanin presence has been noted on Th17 and CD4+ cells from human PBMC. Dysfunction is linked to lymphangioma and subglottis neoplasm and proposed as a marker for lung injury.
