Target Information
Sarcalumenin is a 160 kDa acidic calcium-binding glycoprotein localized to the inner membrane of the sarcoplasmic reticulum in a calcium-dependent manner.
The gene encoding sarcalumenin also produces an alternate splice variant, a 53 kDa glycoprotein that co-localizes with sarcalumenin.
Both proteins are found in the longitudinal sarcoplasmic reticulum and nonjunctional membranes of the terminal cisternae, and co-localize with calcium-ATPase, suggesting roles in calcium transport and sequestration.
