Target Information
Heat shock proteins (HSPs) are highly conserved and abundantly expressed proteins involved in diverse cellular functions such as multiprotein complex assembly, protein translocation, and folding regulation.
They are categorized into six families: HSP 90, HSP 70, HSP 60, low molecular weight HSPs, immunophilins, and HSP 110.
The low molecular weight HSP family includes HSP 10, HSP 20, HSP 27 (Heme Oxygenase 1), HSP 32, and HSP 40.
Chaperonins, including GroEL and GroES (HSP 10) in E. coli, assist ATP-dependent protein folding. HSP 10 forms a heptameric ring of identical 10 kDa subunits that binds to each end of GroEL, creating a symmetric, functional heterodimer.
