Target Information
Substrate-binding subunit of the Rab geranylgeranyltransferase (GGTase) complex.
Binds unprenylated Rab proteins and presents the substrate peptide to the catalytic component B (RABGGTA and RABGGTB), remaining bound after the geranylgeranyl transfer reaction.
Component A is regenerated by transferring its prenylated Rab back to the donor membrane.
A pre-formed complex of CHM and Rab GGTase dimer (RGGT or component B) can bind and prenylate Rab proteins—this alternative pathway is proposed as the predominant route for Rab protein geranylgeranylation.
