Target Information
Eukaryotic initiation factor 2B (EIF2B) is a GTP exchange factor essential for protein synthesis, composed of five distinct subunits. The EIF2B4 gene encodes the delta subunit of this complex. Mutations in this gene are associated with leukoencephalopathy with vanishing white matter (VWM) and ovarioleukodystrophy. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
