Invitrogen™ COMP Human ProcartaPlex™ Simplex Kit

The Human COMP Simplex ProcartaPlex Kit measures COMP protein and is designed to be combinable with other Simplex kits to create a custom multiplex panel utilizing Luminex xMAP technology for protein detection and quantitation.
When combining multiple Simplex kits (not using a pre-configured Multiplex Panel), only one buffer kit (sold separately) is needed per assay plate regardless of plex size.

About ProcartaPlex Assays for the Luminex Platform

ProcartaPlex immunoassays are based on sandwich ELISA principles, using two highly specific antibodies binding to different epitopes of a protein to quantitate multiple targets simultaneously via a Luminex instrument.
These multiplex assays require as little as 25 μL of plasma or serum, or 50 μL of cell culture supernatant, and deliver results within four hours.

ProcartaPlex assays utilize Luminex xMAP (multianalyte profiling) technology for simultaneous detection and quantitation of up to 80 protein targets in a single sample from plasma, serum, cell culture supernatants, and other fluids.

Each Luminex bead is internally dyed with precise proportions of red and infrared fluorophores to create unique spectral signatures identifiable by Luminex systems (e.g., Luminex 200, FLEXMAP 3D, MAGPIX).
Similar to a sandwich ELISA, matched antibody pairs identify the target protein. Each bead is labeled with antibodies specific to one protein, and detection is achieved via biotinylated antibodies and streptavidin–R-phycoerythrin (RPE).

Key Differences from ELISA

In ProcartaPlex assays, capture antibodies are conjugated to beads rather than adsorbed to microplate wells, allowing reagents to remain free-floating.
Detection instruments such as Luminex 200 use dual lasers—one for bead identification and one for RPE fluorescence quantitation—providing multiplexed profiling of many proteins using minimal sample volume and time compared to traditional ELISA.

ProcartaPlex multiplex panels are available across six species: human, mouse, rat, nonhuman primate, porcine, and canine.
