Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems developed by cloning specific antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits. Individual clones are screened to select the best candidates for production.

Target Information
This gene encodes a member of the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) cytokine family, a ligand for osteoprotegerin and a key factor for osteoclast differentiation and activation. It acts as a dendritic cell survival factor and regulates T cell-dependent immune responses.
T cell activation induces expression of this gene, leading to increased osteoclastogenesis and bone loss. It activates antiapoptotic kinase AKT/PKB through a signaling complex involving SRC kinase and TRAF6, suggesting a role in apoptosis regulation.
Targeted disruption of the related gene in mice caused severe osteopetrosis and absence of osteoclasts. Deficient mice showed defects in early T and B lymphocyte differentiation and failed to form lobulo-alveolar mammary structures during pregnancy. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants have been identified.
