Target Information

LAMP2 (Lysosome-associated membrane glycoprotein 2, CD107b) is a member of a family of membrane glycoproteins. It provides selectins with carbohydrate ligands and may play roles in tumor cell metastasis, lysosomal protection, maintenance, and adhesion.

• Precursor form: ~46 kDa polypeptide
• Mature form: 100–130 kDa after extensive glycosylation
• Structure: large amino-terminal intra-lysosomal domain, hydrophobic transmembrane domain, short cytoplasmic tail
• Variants: LAMP-2A, LAMP-2B, LAMP-2C
• Function: involved in lysosome biogenesis and fusion with phagosomes
• Deficiency: leads to accumulation of autophagosomes, causing cardiomyopathy and myopathy (Danon’s disease)

LAMP2, together with CD107a/LAMP-1, is a major constituent of lysosomal membranes and is used to monitor chaperone-mediated autophagy.
