Product Specific Information
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using an epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Target Information
The protein encoded by the ALDH7A1 gene belongs to the aldehyde dehydrogenase family, subfamily 7. These enzymes play a major role in detoxifying aldehydes produced during alcohol metabolism and lipid peroxidation. ALDH7A1 is also involved in lysine catabolism within the mitochondrial matrix. It is found in both the cytosol and mitochondria, likely due to alternative translation initiation sites. Additional isoforms have been identified, and mutations in this gene are associated with pyridoxine-dependent epilepsy. Several related pseudogenes have also been reported.
