Store vial at -20°C prior to opening. Aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below for extended storage. Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing. Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature. This product is stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use.

Alpha Amylase Antibody is an IgG fraction antibody purified from monospecific antiserum by a multi-step process including delipidation, salt fractionation, and ion exchange chromatography followed by extensive dialysis against the buffer stated above. Assay by immunoelectrophoresis resulted in a single precipitin arc against anti-Rabbit Serum as well as purified and partially purified α-Amylase (Bacillus amyloliquefaciens). Cross-reactivity against α-Amylase from other tissues and species may occur but has not been specifically determined.

Target Information

Amylases are secreted proteins that hydrolyze 1,4-alpha-glucoside bonds in oligosaccharides and polysaccharides, catalyzing the first step in digestion of dietary starch and glycogen. The human genome contains several amylase genes expressed at high levels in salivary glands or pancreas. It is an amylase isoenzyme produced by the salivary gland.
