Assay by immunoelectrophoresis resulted in a single precipitin arc against anti-Rabbit Serum as well as purified and partially purified alpha-1-Acid Glycoprotein (Human Plasma).
Cross-reactivity against alpha-1-Acid Glycoprotein from other tissues and species may occur but has not been specifically determined.
Target Information
ORM1 (alpha-1-Acid Glycoprotein) is an acute phase plasma protein synthesized by the liver. It regulates interactions between blood cells and endothelial cells, and together with haptoglobin and C-reactive protein, it modulates cell extravasation during infection and inflammation.
ORM1 is a major acute phase reactant in humans and rats. In human plasma, ORM1 (44 kDa) is found at levels of 0.5–1.4 mg/mL. Its concentration increases during acute inflammation such as trauma, malignancies, myocardial infarction, rheumatoid arthritis, bacterial infections, and after major surgery or chronic pain, making it a useful biomarker for inflammatory conditions.
