Product Specific Information
The functional human GDNF ligand is a disulfide-linked homodimer consisting of two 15 kDa polypeptide chains (monomers).
Each monomer contains seven conserved cysteine residues, including Cys-101, which forms inter-chain disulfide bridges and contributes to the cysteine-knot configuration.
The calculated molecular weight of Recombinant Human GDNF is 30.4 kDa.

Target Information
GDNF is a glycosylated, disulfide-bonded homodimer molecule.
It was first identified as a potent survival factor for midbrain dopaminergic neurons and shown to rescue these neurons in Parkinson’s disease models.
GDNF is approximately 100 times more efficient as a survival factor for spinal motor neurons than neurotrophins.
It enhances survival and morphological differentiation of dopaminergic neurons and increases their high-affinity dopamine uptake.
