Target Information
RGS14 is a member of the regulator of G-protein signaling family containing one RGS domain, two Raf-like Ras-binding domains (RBDs), and one GoLoco domain.
It attenuates G-protein signaling by binding to activated GTP-bound G alpha subunits and acts as a GTPase activating protein (GAP), increasing GTP hydrolysis to GDP.
This leads to reformation of inactive G-protein heterotrimers, terminating the signal.
RGS14 also modulates microtubule polymerization and spindle organization, plays a role in cell division, and is required for NGF-mediated neurite outgrowth.
It is involved in stress resistance and may contribute to visual memory processing and hippocampal-based learning and memory.
