This antibody detects endogenous levels of total HBS1L.
Target Information
HBS1L encodes a member of the GTP-binding elongation factor family. It is expressed in multiple tissues, with highest levels in heart and skeletal muscle. The intergenic region between HBS1L and MYB is a quantitative trait locus (QTL) influencing fetal hemoglobin levels, erythrocyte, platelet, and monocyte counts, as well as erythrocyte volume and hemoglobin content. DNA polymorphisms in this region are associated with fetal hemoglobin levels and pain crises in sickle cell disease. A SNP in exon 1 is linked to severity in beta-thalassemia/Hemoglobin E. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encode different isoforms.
