Target Information

Oncogene ERBB4 (HER4) is a member of the type I receptor protein tyrosine kinase subfamily, which includes EGFR, ERBB2, and ERBB3.
ERBB4 binds and is activated by neuregulins and other factors, inducing cellular responses such as mitogenesis and differentiation.
It mediates tyrosine phosphorylation and signal transduction processes regulating metabolism, transcription, cell cycle progression, cytoskeletal rearrangement, apoptosis, and differentiation.

ERBB4 is predominantly expressed in several breast carcinoma cell lines and normal tissues including skeletal muscle, heart, pituitary, brain, and cerebellum.
High expression levels are observed in T47-D, MDA-MB-453, BT-474, and H3396 cell lines, while lower expression is seen in MCF-7, MDAMB-330, and MDA-MB-361.
Expression is low or absent in MDA-MB-231, MDA-MB-157, MDA-MB-468, and SKBR-3 cell lines.
Elevated ERBB4 levels have been found in certain human tumor cell lines, suggesting a possible role in malignancy.
