Target Information

Oncogene ERBB4 (HER4) is a member of the type I receptor protein tyrosine kinase subfamily that includes EGFR, ERBB2, and ERBB3.
ERBB4 binds and is activated by neuregulins and other factors, inducing various cellular responses such as mitogenesis and differentiation.
It is a receptor for heregulin, mediating HGL-stimulated tyrosine phosphorylation and playing a key role in signal transduction related to metabolism, transcription, cell cycle, and differentiation.
ERBB4 is predominantly expressed in breast carcinoma cell lines and in normal skeletal muscle, heart, pituitary, brain, and cerebellum.
High expression levels are found in T47-D, MDA-MB-453, BT-474, and H3396, while low or absent in MDA-MB-231, MDA-MB-157, MDA-MB-468, and SKBR-3.
Elevated ERBB4 levels in certain tumor cell lines suggest a possible role in malignancy.
