Product Specific Information

This antibody detects endogenous levels of total Cyclin D1.

Target Information

Cyclin D1 (PRAD-1, bcl-1) is a key regulator of the cell cycle that functions with CDK4 and/or CDK6 to phosphorylate the Rb protein. It acts as a proto-oncogene and is overexpressed in various human cancers, including mantle cell lymphomas (MCL). Cyclin D1 regulates protein phosphorylation, mammary epithelial cell proliferation, and adipocyte differentiation. The CCND1 gene is located on chromosome 11 and encodes a cytoplasmic and nuclear protein synthesized during the G1 phase. It forms complexes with CDK4 or CDK6, driving the G1/S transition by inactivating Rb and modulating CDK inhibitors such as p21Cip1 and p27Kip1. Without growth factor stimulation, Cyclin D1 undergoes ubiquitin-mediated degradation, leading to G1/S arrest. As a member of the cyclin family, Cyclin D1 exhibits periodic expression throughout the cell cycle and plays a crucial role in cell cycle regulation and tumorigenesis research.
