이 단백질은 flavoprotein pyridine nucleotide cytochrome reductase 계열에 속하며, 두 가지 자연적으로 존재하는 isoform을 가집니다.
- Isoform 1: 소포체 막 및 미토콘드리아 외막의 세포질 쪽에 고정
- Isoform 2: 적혈구 내에서 발견되는 가용성 형태
CYB5R3는 지방산의 불포화 및 연장, 콜레스테롤 생합성, 약물 대사, 적혈구 내 methemoglobin 환원 과정에 관여합니다.
