Target Information
CHEK2 (CHK2) is a serine/threonine kinase involved in the DNA damage checkpoint pathway. Mutations in CHK2 are linked to various cancers. CHK2 activation upon DNA damage leads to phosphorylation of tumor suppressor proteins such as BRCA1, aiding in cellular survival and repair processes.
It is considered a putative tumor suppressor, with mutations associated with Li-Fraumeni syndrome, sarcomas, breast cancer, and brain tumors.
