CHD5 (Chromodomain helicase DNA binding protein 5)는 SNF2/RAD54 helicase 계열의 chromatin remodeling 및 DNA 결합 단백질(CHD 단백질) 군에 속합니다. 태아 및 성인 뇌에서 높은 수준으로 발현되며, 신경계 발달에 중요한 역할을 수행하고 Arf/p53 경로를 통해 종양 억제 기능을 합니다.
CHD5는 다른 chromo-domain 단백질들과 함께 NuRD 등의 리모델링 복합체를 형성하여 정상적인 신경아세포 성숙을 촉진하고 신경세포의 과발현을 방지합니다. 이러한 복합체의 오류는 세포가 지속적인 성장 상태에 머물게 하여 분화를 방해하고 종양 형성으로 이어질 수 있습니다.
