This product is preservative-free. It is recommended to add sodium azide to avoid contamination (final concentration 0.05%–0.1%).
This antibody has specificity for Human GluR2.

Target Information

The ion channels activated by glutamate are typically divided into two classes:

  • Those sensitive to N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA), designated NMDA receptors (NMDAR)
  • Those activated by alpha-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-4-isoxalone propionic acid (AMPA), known as AMPA receptors (AMPAR)

AMPARs are composed of four distinct glutamate receptor subunits (GluR1–4) and play key roles in excitatory neurotransmission in the brain.
The GluR2 subunit is thought to play a central role in synaptic plasticity, such as long-term depression (LTD).
