Target Information
Parathyroid hormone receptor 1 (PTH1R) is a member of the G-protein coupled receptor family.
This protein acts as a receptor for parathyroid hormone (PTH) and parathyroid hormone-like hormone (PTHLH).
Its activity is mediated by G proteins that activate adenylyl cyclase and a phosphatidylinositol-calcium second messenger system.
Defects in this receptor are associated with Jansen’s metaphyseal chondrodysplasia (JMC), chondrodysplasia Blomstrand type (BOCD), and enchondromatosis.
PTH1R expression has been reported in bone, breast, brain, colon, GI tract, kidney, liver, placenta, skin, umbilical cord, and uterus.
