TLR1 단백질은 병원체 인식 및 선천 면역 활성화에 중요한 역할을 하는 Toll-like receptor (TLR) 계열에 속합니다. TLR은 Drosophila부터 인간까지 보존되어 있으며, 병원체 관련 분자 패턴(PAMPs)을 인식하여 면역 반응에 필요한 사이토카인 생성을 유도합니다.
TLR1은 TLR2와 상호작용하며, 공동 발현 시 합성된 lipopeptide에 대한 NF-kappaB 활성화를 증가시킵니다. 또한 다양한 길이의 전사체가 대체 polyadenylation 또는 스플라이싱에 의해 생성될 수 있습니다.
