Target Information
Alpha Tubulin is part of a heterodimer consisting of alpha and beta tubulin subunits, each approximately 55 kDa. These heterodimers form microtubules—cylindrical filamentous structures present in almost all eukaryotic cells. Microtubules provide structural support, facilitate intracellular transport, and play a key role in mitosis.
Gamma tubulin is critical for microtubule nucleation. Alpha and beta tubulin genes are highly conserved among species, with alpha tubulin showing strong similarity to mouse and rat Tuba1 genes. Expression is predominantly found in morphologically differentiated neurologic cells.
