The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by antigen-specific chromatography. Purity >95% as verified by SDS-PAGE.
Target Information
Polymeric IgA and IgM are produced by B cells in the lamina propria beneath mucosal epithelial cells. The polymeric immunoglobulin receptor (pIgR) mediates transcellular transport of these immunoglobulins across epithelial layers. During transport, pIgR is cleaved to form the secretory component (SC), which protects immunoglobulin polymers from enzymatic degradation. The human pIgR gene is located on chromosome 1q31–q41 and encodes a 764-amino-acid protein with five immunoglobulin-like domains and a transmembrane region. SC and pIgR are essential for mucosal immunity, acting as molecular chaperones to maintain polymeric Ig integrity.
