Target Information

Peroxiredoxin (Prx) is a peroxidase family involved in cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis. Mammalian Prx consists of six members categorized into typical 2-Cys, atypical 2-Cys, and 1-Cys Prx.
Prx VI belongs to the 1-Cys subgroup, while the other five 2-Cys Prx isotypes exhibit thioredoxin-dependent peroxidase (TPx) activity. Mammalian Prxs are 20–30 kDa and vary in subcellular localization:

• Prx I, II, and VI: cytosol
• Prx III: mitochondria
• Prx IV: endoplasmic reticulum and secretion
• Prx V: peroxisome, mitochondria, and cytosol
